Kingdomsons Academy’s mission is to provide a high standard of education to children in the Kipkaren region.

Our School

Located in the Kipkaren Region of Western Kenya, our school aims to provide students with core subjects, religious instruction, sports, recreational activities and craft. Kingdomsons excels in academic performance and is always in the top four schools of the region.

Kingdomsons takes part in a variety of extra curriculum activities. Currently our Girl Guides program is in position 1 and our Scouts program is in position 2 in the subcounty which is something that we are very proud of! We also recently took part in a soccer competition and two of our girls were selected to join a subcounty team. We think that this is awesome!

Boarders

The school provides accommodation for up to 50 boarders in both girls and boys dormitories. There is a live-in house carer for all boarders. The boarders stay there for the full term and return home on their school breaks. The children are very happy in their accommodation and have access to the playing field and enjoy each other’s company.

  • “When I was at home as a day scholar, my parents had no time to check on us and whether we are clean or dirty before leaving for school. But in the boarding house, our boarding teacher checks on us when one is dirty or clean, washed his or her clothing and made our beds”.

    Kadii, 13 Grade 8, Boarder
  • “When I was a day scholar, I was unable to study properly because of a lot of work. e.g. working on the farm and looking after livestock. I had no teachers around to direct me but in the boarding house I have enough time to study and the teachers are around to help me. I also had no good lights to study while at home as we were using candles and paraffin lamps but now in the boarding house, we have electricity. “

Calvin, 9 years old Grade 5, Boarder
  • “While I was a day scholar, I was not provided with good bedding. In the boarding house we have a bed, mattress, blanket, sheets and bedcovers. Our windows have curtains which are easy to open and close. They don’t allow any light to pass through to interfere with our sleep when they are closed. They make the dormitory warm and we sleep soundly."

Medicine, 14 years old grade 8, Boarder
  • “My life in Kingdomsons has been so good since I joined the boarding house. We don’t have many challenges, like the one I faced when I was a day scholar. Previously I had to work hard, wake up early, go to search for water before I went to school. In the boarding house we are provided with water from the tap bore hose and the tank."

Education

Kingdomsons provides Christian-based learning for students from Pre-primary to Grade 8. From 2023 Secondary School, Grades 9 and 10 will be operating. The teachers are of a high standard and are currently implementing the new CBC Curriculum. The teachers encourage students to reach their personal best in a positive environment with support and grace. Classes are filled with lots of hands-on activities and performing arts including poetry, songs and dance.

Students

The students at Kingdomsons Academy are encouraged to explore their giftings. Now that the new CBC curriculum is in place across Kenya, the students are being introduced to new life skills such as sewing, gardening, team sports and craft. They are very energetic and enthusiastic to learn all these new skills.

Kingdomsons Academy provides education and support to over 250 children. Many children come from extremely poor circumstances and therefore the school supplies lunch, maize porridge for morning tea and school resources. Some families struggle to supply uniforms and we encourage people to sponsor a child’s complete uniform set for $30 AUD so that they can be a part of transforming individual students lives. Below you can see a young boy in desperate need of a new uniform, you should have seen the smile on his face when he got his new uniform that an Australian family donated, he was so proud to receive it and we were just as pleased to give it!

Kipkaren River is a regional village with many students coming from the surrounding regions requiring them to take the school bus to travel to and from school

Community

Kingdomsons Academy is being used as a hub for the community. Because of its proximity to the village, the facility is being used for varied community events. Many young men from the village have formed three soccer teams and use the school playing field to train every night. They are very skilled at playing soccer even though most do not have soccer foot wear and have earned a good reputation playing Regional soccer. This sporting activity has helped to change the lives of these young men whereas before they had nothing to occupy themselves with and often fell into bad company and activities. Many would say that Ps George Muteti and the openness of the school has changed their lives, and many have found faith in God. The school has recently developed a volleyball team also and has been encouraging many young men from the village to join the new found activity. The dining hall, which has recently been completed, has also been used for indoor sporting activities and in the future will be able to be used for various community events.
